I read this passage and I found it bitterly ironic. But for all the bitterness of it, I cannot taste even a hint of cynicism. It resonates with me… I find myself speaking generally about something specific in my life. Or telling the truth, but hiding the whole truth in plain view. How I know that what I say can be taken one way… but I can mean it in a completely different way… and I won’t explain unless asked or I really trust you. I’ll let you think what you wish…
The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
He replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.This is why I speak to them in parables:
